Pohutukawa / New Zealand Christmas Tree - 'Maori chief Tauninihi threw his feather headdress (Hutukawa) into the sea when he saw the flame-fringed coast of Aotearoa, assuming better plumage was waiting for him when he landed. But he was very disappointed to find out that the distant feathers were really fragile Pohutukawa blooms.'
