4 Native Trees of New Zealand - The Maori names & English names:
Ti Kouka - Cabbage tree: 'Ti' is cabbage tree, 'Kouka' refers to the edible shoots of this Ti. Mamaku - The 'Black fern tree' can reach up to 20m in height, with fronds up to 7m. Rimu - 'The red pine' can grow 60m tall, with a trunk girth of 1.5m over 300 years. Pohutukawa - Maori for: 'Tree with the red adornments growing near the sea.'
